## Phone number questions

### Do we need a number for authenticator codes?

No. If your service offers a supported authenticator QR code, link or key, you can share its codes without buying a number. Your first account is free. [See authenticator setup](https://sharedmfainbox.com/login-codes-for-teams).

### Who owns and controls it?

The number is attached to your company account. Admins manage it and decide which teammates can read its SMS. It is not tied to one employee’s handset.

### Which countries are available?

Choose from the numbers offered inside your account. Availability depends on the country. Check the country and number you need before you pay.

### Will our shared account accept it?

That is decided by the service sending the text. Some services do not accept this kind of number or require a local one. Test a real sign-in before relying on it.

### What does it cost?

SMS is $12.99/week, $15.99/month, $29.99/quarter, $99.99/year per number. Unlimited teammates.

### What if we release the number?

Releasing ends billing and access to that number. Move the services that use it to a working replacement first. The unused portion of annual number billing is not refunded.
